Welcome to the new 2024-2025 school year. I hope the Summer was a great one for you, but your STA family is happy to have you back!
This is a year that brings many changes for St. Athanasius. We are no longer a Partnership School and are now under the umbrella of the Archdiocese of New York (ADNY).
In addition, I am the new Principal, Ms. Tracey Coleman. I bring many years of leadership to STA and am excited to join the Athanasius family.
Everything we do in St. Athanasius is child-centered and Christ-centered. We exist to build lifelong learners who are grounded by faith. This results in creating children who are ready to take on the world and meet the challenges of the world.
Love and care is at the center of all we do at STA. Experiences will help shape the students into well equipped stewards of God’s beautiful world. As stated in Romans 12:10, we are called to "Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor."
To prepare children for these life experiences, there will be a shift in the time that instruction will begin. Children will be expected to arrive between 8:00 am and 8:15 am. They will eat breakfast at this time and prepare for their day of learning. The day will start with content-specific DO Nows that will alternate weekly, by subject. This allows for teachers to focus on small group instruction, as well as check for understanding of the newly taught content. This will allow St. Athanasius to maximize the learning for each student. Instruction will begin at 8:15 am!!
We will celebrate Mass on a monthly basis, as a school. Parents are welcome to attend all school Masses. Children will also prepare for sacraments this school year too.
I anticipate that we will have an amazing school year. While remembering our mission to serve others, we follow the greatest teacher, Jesus Christ. In following Him, we will continue to make the world a better place.
Ms. Tracey Coleman
